Lets All Laugh At Newcastle

June 1, 2009

Following on from the previous post, Sunderland might be shit but lets be thankful we’re not as shit as that lot from up the road.

I think the picture of this young lad sums up the feelings we’ve all been experiencing for the last week…

Lets all laugh at Newcastle

Think I’ll just stick to posting about music and beer.  At least they never let you down….

Last nights result:  Stoke 2 – SAFC 1

Derby 1 – Sunderland 2

Haven’t posted for a while about The Lads, but now we’re winning things might be a bit different.  Typical fickle football supporter!!

  • What a differnce a few weeks makes.
  • New manager – Roy ‘Keano’ Keane.
  • New signings – too numerous to mention.
  • 2 victories on the bounce.
  • H’way the lads!!

C’mon, back off out on the piss to celebarate!!

Sunderland 2 – Plymouth 3

August 13, 2006

Here we go again.  Not only can we not win games in the Premiership but we can’t even do it in the Championship – 3 games, 3 defeats. Not the kind of return we had been hoping for.  It’s too early to write us off just yet and there is no point starting to moan at Quinn, because it seems to me that he’s doing everything in is control to turn things around, including being very ambitious in the transfer market, but the simple fact is that at this moment in time we’re just not good enough.

Following an ideal start with a goal in the first minute we pressed the self destruct button and proceeded to do everything in our power to send the visitors home with the 3 points.  Too many members of the team turned in below par performances and with the responsibility of the captains armband Dean Whitehead decided to sit in front of the back four instead if driving the game forward and looking to create chances.

New boy Clive Clark has had a nightmare start to his Sunderland career and things did not get any better in this game which saw him withdrawn from the action midway through the first half due to injury.

After throwing away the lead to go in at half time 2-1 down the lads managed to get back on level terms, only for another lapse in concentration to cost us dearly.  We finished the game with four recognised strikers on the pitch as we looked for another equaliser which unfortunately proved elusive.

The attendance of just over 24,000 was disappointing but after last year who can blame the fans for staying away.  It’s already too much for some and as we made our way back across the bridge at full time some scally was on the ledge contemplating jumping.  “Go on kid, you might as well.  Things aren’t gonna get any better!!” piped up one passer by.

And on the 7th day, let there be SPORT

New season, different league, same old shit.  Coventry 2  Sunderland 1.  Sunderland go one nil up only to throw the match away.  Why do I put myself through this?  Only one match gone and the promise of further signings before the end of month, but I can’t see us challenging for the top spot.  At best I think we are looking at play-offs.  More likely outcome is a finish inside the top 10.

Cricket is starting to pick up, with England taking some quick wickets.  Still the chance of getting a victory from this test now.

Finally, probably the most surprising result of the afternoon, a Grand Prix victory for Jenson Button.  About bloody time I’d say for someone who earns a reputed £10 million a year.
